Paintings of the Americas

The Art of the Americas collection includes more than 2,000 paintings created throughout the United States, Canada, and Latin America, ranging from the colonial period through the mid-20th century. Many have become icons of American art, among them John Singleton Copley's portrait of Paul Revere (1768), Mary Cassatt's In the Loge (1878), Winslow Homer's The Fog Warning (1885), John Singer Sargent's The Daughters of Edward Darley Boit (1882), and Frida Kahlo's Dos Mujeres (1928). This small selection also includes 19th-century landscapes and important modernist and abstract works by Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and Norman Lewis.
