ProvenanceMay 13, 1902, found by Gennaro Matrone (d. 1927) during excavation of the Contrada Bottaro Villa, about a half-mile south of Pompeii; ownership granted by the Italian State to Gennaro Matrone. By 1916, Cleveland Museum of Art (accession no. 16.893); 1980, deaccessioned by the Cleveland Museum of Art and sold to the MFA. (Accession Date: June 18, 1980)
