NOTE: In her article "Two Playing Cards by the Master P. W," Bulletin of the Museum of Fine Arts 53, no. 292 (Summer, 1955), pp. 22-23, curator Anna C. Hoyt wrote that the print "was found in a miscellaneous assortment of flower prints, chiefly eighteenth-century." On the back is written in pencil: "C. Mellan," suggesting it may once have been attributed to Claude Mellan.
