No artist is more identified with cat imagery than Théophile Alexandre Steinlen. He depicted feline grace and beauty in infinite varieties in posters, books, paintings, drawings, and prints. He had a well-deserved reputation as a pioneer in color lithography; this color lithograph is a proof before letters of a design for a poster announcing an exhibition of Steinlen's own work in 1894.
