Description
This print is an impression of the print from London used in The Illustrated Bartsch to illustrate Bartsch XIV, 109, 123. The MFA print accession number P1242 is a deceptively similar print, and seems to be by the better hand. P1242 is therefore catalogued as the original of Bartsch 123, and this print is catalogued as the copy.
ProvenanceCount Gregory Sergeievitch Stroganoff, Rome (died 1910)(Lugt 550); William Goodwin Russell Allen (b. 1882 - d. 1955), Boston; by inheritance to his niece, Lydia Evans Tunnard (Mrs. Christopher Tunnard, b. 1913 - d. 1980), New Haven, CT; 1965, year-end gift of Mrs. Christopher Tunnard to the MFA.
