ProvenanceFrom the noted collection of Lloyd and Vivian Hawes of Wellesley, Massachusetts; this Chelsea ewer was apparently owned at one time by a Dr. Roddin (sp?), who left a handwritten, undated note that reads: "As to the Robinson vase. My grandmother knew Robinson and this vase was given to her by him. They lived in Chelsea and Robinson had his shop or studio there. I am 75 years old and it has been around ever since I can remember. Sincerely, Dr. Roddin (sp?). Robinson & his boy did not get along well & when he died refused to give his son any of his methods. R."
