NOTES:
[1] A letter in the MFA curatorial file from Ira S. Parke to the MFA (January 4, 1961) states that he purchased the painting "about twenty years ago." A note by Mr. Parke (undated; probably 1961) states that the dealer from whom he purchased it said "that it came into his possession in a mass of household goods that he had bought from the Estate of an English woman who had come to live in Detroit."
