InscriptionsEngraved into edge "DANIEL MACNEE ELECTED MDCCCXXIX". Obverse: Inscribed in exergue "J.NOEL PATON R.S.A.DEL/BENJ.WYON SC". Reverse: Inscribed around burner "ROYAL SCOTTISH ACADEMY OF PAINTING SCVLPTURE AND ARCHITECTURE".
Provenance1876, presented to Daniel Macnee (b. 1806- d. 1882), on the occasion of his election as President of the Scottish Royal Academy, Scotland. By about 1996, with Marcoz Antiques, Boston; 1996, sold by Marcoz Antiques to Malcolm Rogers, Brookline, MA; 2002, gift of Malcolm Rogers to the MFA. (Accession Date: February 27, 2002)
