NOTES:
[1] according to notes in curatorial file, Mr. Gardner gave the painting to the MFA in 1919, although it continued to hang in the Gardner's residence until the late 1930s. Following Mr. Gardner's death in 1939, the painting was bequeathed to the Children's Hospital with the MFA's approval.
