Description
This service demonstrates the Neoclassical custom of creating matched sets. Previously, services were assembled of individual pieces that did not necessarily conform in shape and decoration. The Neoclassical style also is seen in the fluted, urn-shaped bodies inspired by ancient forms and in the surface ornament of engraving and bright-cut decoration.
ProvenanceDescended from Captain Bernard and Mary Raser, great-grandparents of the donor.
