Frog and a Praying Mantis

These photographs are part of the artists' long-term project, which involves raising insects and animals in order to recreate the predator-prey encounters that ordinarily take place in the wild, and capturing them on film. Her photographs can be humorous, surprising, and unsettling, and convey the uncomfortable message that mammals (including humans) are subject to the same immutable laws of nature as are the so-called lower life forms. Life and death, the nature of art and science, and the complex relationship between humans and nature are important aspects explored in her work.
