ProvenanceThe donor purchased the spoons from F. B. Hubley, Cambridge, Massachusetts, auctioneers, December 1, 1999, lot 116. The donor believes that the spoons came from the estate of Wilbur Joseph Bender (1903-?), former dean of Harvard College and later instructor at Phillips Andover Academy.
