Game chip (fish)

Mother-of-pearl or ivory counters, often called fish, were used to keep score in many card games. According to Hoyle, loo was "played with the assistance of counters," often stored in a small box. The 1814 inventory of this room lists "1 Loo box."  These counters, probably imported from England, have a history of ownership in the Derby family.
