InscriptionsUppermost slat stamped or branded "3" in center of back. Shaker trademark on interior of PR rocker, consisting of image of a small ladderback rocking chair surrounded by gold lettering in an oval which reads "SHAKER'S / No. 3 / TRADE MARK / MT. LEBANON. N.Y."ProvenanceEarly history unknown, although other objects given by this donor at the same time are thought to have descended in her family; 1973, gift of Miss Penelope Noyes, Cambridge, Massachusetts (Accession Date February 14, 1972); October 25, 2012, deaccessioned by the MFA for sale through Northeast Auctions, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
