ProvenanceMade for the cupola of the Pickman-Derby-Brookhouse house, 70 Washington Street, Salem, Massachusetts; sometime after it was purchased by Elias Hasket Derby in 1782, probably at the time of a remodeling in 1786; to Robert Brookhouse (1779-1866), silversmith, merchant, and trader of Salem; to his grand-daughter, Mrs. Eliza (Brookhouse) Rice, who probabky removed it to her Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, house after the Salem house was srazed in 1915; to her daughter, Mrs. Lila Brookhouse (Rice) Barker; to her son, W. Gardner Barker, Greenwich, Connecticut; acquired at auction, Northeast Auctions, August 3-4, 1991, no. 557.
