Description
Heade's interest in nature and botany, which he shared with many artists and designers of the period, is mirrored in the vine-like forms of Rococo-Revival decorative arts. The graceful curves of this rosewood sofa and its matching card table (exhibited nearby) reflect a restrained approach to the style, in contrast to the more elaborate, twisting forms produced by Baudouine's contemporary John Henry Belter, whose work also is shown in this gallery.
