InscriptionsPainted in large script on outside of back "Prof. A.S. Packard / Providence." Drawers marked 1 through 4, top to bottom, and have other pencil marks.
ProvenanceBy tradition, possibly owned originally by the Derby family of Salem, Massachusetts; presumably owned by Professor Alpheus S. Packard, Jr. (1839-1905) of Brown University, Providence, R.I.; 1931, lent to the Museum by Maxim Karolik, bequeathed to the MFA by Maxim Karolik (Accession date May 9, 2007); October 25, 2012, deaccessioned by the MFA for sale through Northeast Auctions, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
