Inscriptions「前に出版せし売薬病闘争の戯画殊の外御意にかなひ依てそれにもれたる病ひ薬等猶画師の工夫をもって爰にあらハす尤其品あまたなれバ画表にのせ尽しがたく此余ハつゞいて発行の分にもらさず図するなりされども甲乙の違等ハよろしく御高覧の程希上候」

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
