Description
David Ebner, a furniture maker trained under the artist and craftsman Wendell Castle, has been creating sculptural pieces of furniture since 1973. Artistry is important to Ebner; he says of his practice, “I've explored a variety of directions and themes over the years, but each piece is treated as an art object with concern for my material and honesty to its inherent qualities.” This unique piece, Corner Table, is one of his most well-known works. Designed to be situated in the corner of a room, the single leg almost appears to be flowing down from the tabletop in a gentle wooden waterfall. With its unique design, it subverts ideas of what a table, and furniture more broadly, can and should look like.
