Louise Dahl-Wolfe, who photographed for the magazine "Harper's Bazaar" from 1936 to 1958, was a pioneering figure in the photographing of models in natural light and on location in exotic places. Her pictures of sporty women dressed in casual wear, for which she became known, convey a modern sense of refreshing and elegant sophistication. This image, taken in 1953 at the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, promoted the easy care of the decade's new synthetic fibers, promoted as ideal for modern travelers.
