Provenance1930s, probably acquired in Peru by Walram von Schoeler (b. 1904), New York [see note]; 1947, sold by Walram von Schoeler to the MFA. (Accession Date: June 12, 1947)

NOTE: Baron Walram-Voystingus von Schoeler traveled to and conducted archaeological excavations in Peru around the 1930s. Newspaper accounts from the 1940s indicate that he lectured in the U.S. on his time in Peru and exhibited objects from his collection.
