InscriptionsPaper label affixed to underside of top: "BRIGGS' PATENT CENTRE EXTENSION TABLE. TO OPEN THE TABLE. 1st. Take hold of the small handle at the left hand, and pull it towards you as far as it will go. 2d. Then with the right hand push up the knob hard, at the same time pull the table open with the left hand. TO SHUT THE TABLE. 1st. Push the small handle from you as far as it will go. 2d. Take hold of the knob on the capstan, and wind u[p] brisk."
