DescriptionIn March 2006 the Prada company decided to show its Miu Miu collection at the Paris restaurant Lapérouse to signal the fact that this "secondary" line had developed its own identity, apart from the higher-priced Prada line. The Miu Miu collection took inspiration from the restaurant's baroque interior, infamous (and famous) as a place of assignation for men and their mistresses. Models strolled through the restaurant's fourteen rooms wearing wedges like these, with carved and gilt heels that recall the elaborate paneling often found in eighteenth-century French buildings. With their gilt-wood heels and edgy red patent-leather uppers, these shoes are a witty combination of eighteenth-century and modern-day eroticism.Gift of Prada USA, 2007 2007.574.1-2
