The prestige items of the Kuba peoples of Central Africa are delicately carved and mimic many of the patterns found in Kuba textiles. Textiles are among the most commonly found prestige items and they are particularly important to the Kuba. The criss-crossing geometric pattern on the lid of this container is called nnaam, which is associated with vines.
