Description

Bold Empire motifs of paw feet and classicizing lines decorate this sarcophagus-shaped wine cooler. Originally fitted with a lead liner, now missing, it would have held ice for chilling bottles beside the dining table. It was likely part of a set with a sideboard; its low height allowed it to be tucked away beneath the sideboard when not in use.
