Description
This wildly animated scene of lions devouring men may well show the Biblical scene following the more famous episode of Daniel in the Lions’ Den.  Since Daniel was spared a horrible death through God’s favor, King Darius instead ordered his tormentors to be thrown to those same lions.
ProvenanceDr. Gustav Hermann, Prague (?) [see note 1]. 1967, Hermann Baer (dealer), London; 1967, sold by Baer to the MFA. (Accession Date: September 13, 1967)
