Description
This plate belongs to a table service commissioned to commemorate the marriage of Roberto Strozzi and Marietta di Simone Ridolfi.
ProvenanceAbout 1525, Roberto Strozzi and Marietta di Simone Ridolfi, Florence [see note 1]. Baron Gustave de Rothschild (b. 1829 - d. 1911); by descent to his grandson, Baron Henri de Lambert (b. 1887 - d. 1933) and his wife, Baroness Johanna von Reininghaus de Lambert (b. 1899 - d. 1960), Brussels and New York; March 7, 1941, Baroness Lambert sale, Parke-Bernet, New York, lot 105. 1945, Raphael Stora, New York; 1945, sold by Stora to the MFA for $450.
