Dresser was intrigued by the historic techniques of Islamic and Roman stained glass, and his designs are characterized by the deliberate insertion of bubbles, colored streaks, and daring, hand-blown forms. This glassware, known as Clutha (an old name for the river Clyde), was retailed by Liberty & Co. for their avant-garde clientele
