Description
In her paintings, Frecon creates arrangements of shape and color that are both planned and discovered. She measures proportions using compass curves and ellipses based on Euclidean geometry. Yet Frecon also relies on the happenstance of chemical reactions between her many layers of hand-ground pigment and oils to achieve unique effects. Here two stacked canvases highlight a balance and tension between curve and edge, depth and shine.
