ProvenanceAbout 1762, probably commissioned for the Convento de Monjas Carmelitas Descalzas, Caracas, Venezuela [see note 1]; by the end of the 19th century, it had been removed from the convent and was in the Iglesia de la Victoria, La Victoria, Venezuela. Early 20th century, Rafael M. Carabaño, La Victoria. By 1964, Manuel Santaella, Caracas [see note 2]; by descent to Mercedes Santaella de Henning, Caracas; 2002, sold by Santaella de Henning to the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, Caracas; 2017, promised gift of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros to the MFA; 2019, gift of the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros to the MFA.
