DescriptionWhen Albert Kriemer, Creative Director for the Swiss fashion brand Akris, saw an exhibition of Carmen Herrera’s Blanco y Verde paintings at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art in 2015, he was overwhelmed by “her sense of color and proportion, a blend of euphoria and perfect order.” He sought out the then 100-year-old artist and proposed using her work as inspiration for his next clothing collection, which was released in 2017. An example of Herrera's Blanco y Verde series is in the MFA collection: 2014.1009.
