DescriptionDuring the early twentieth-century Boston was a hub for American arts and crafts metaljewelryd jewerly. Boston jewelers like Frank Gardner Hale created a look that celebrated colorful gemstones and polychrome enamel. Thstyle includede included scrolling wirework motifs, leaves, and necklace - this necklace is a key example of pioneeredpoioneered by Boston artists. This necklace corresponds with an original watercolor drawing in the MFA’s Hale archive (SC.Hale.1-9). Executed in slightly different colors it sheds light on changes that may have happened between the design and fabrication of this work of art.
