NOTES:
[1] At the time the painting was acquired by the donors, the frame was French and datable to about 1770. It may have been commissioned specifically for this painting.
[2] Earlier generations of the Dusart family collected art, but it is unknown if this painting belonged to his grandfather, Bernard Dusart (d. 1782) or father Pierre Laurent Dusart (b. 1764 - d. 1833), both of Mechelen.
[3] Around 1900, Charles Rutten produced a handwritten catalogue of his collection. This painting was no. 9 ("La Meuse aux environs de Dordrecht"), and noted to have been purchased at the 1884 sale.
