[1] According to Horst Vey, Sammlung Herbert Girardet: Holländische und Flämische Meister (Rotterdam, 1970), cat. no. 71, this belonged to "Frau Leprince-Antonie," a likely corruption of Mme. Le Prince Antoine de Ligne of Belgium. Klaus Eisele, Jan Wijnants (Stuttgart, 2000), pp. 129-130, cat. no. 63, suggests that "Mme. Leprince Antonie" sold the painting at the Palais de Beaux Arts, Brussels (no date given, lot 96).
