Provenance1893-94, installed in the Trading Room of the Chicago Stock Exchange; about 1972, upon demolition of the Chicago Stock Exchange building, section of frieze panel salvaged and kept by Robert Webb Ames (b. 1925 – d. 2016), Chicago [see note 1]; 2019, bequest of Robert W. Ames to the MFA [see note 2]. (Accession Date: December 11, 2019)

NOTES:
(1) At the time, Mr. Ames was studying architecture with Mies Van der Rohe at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago; he later returned to the Boston area where he lived for the rest of his life.

(2) Mr. Ames died May 17, 2016.
