Description
Kat Cole's piece, Old Lines, from 2016, is part of her Oil and Water series based on the city of Dallas, TX. This series has been published and exhibited widely. For this series, Cole created enamel decals from old maps of Dallas onto steel. Kat Cole studied at East Carolina University under the tutelage of Robert “Bob” Ebendorf and has been described as a rising star in the contemporary jewelry world. The MFA collection includes excellent examples of Ebendorf’s early work. Adding the work of his students demonstrates the important legacy of early American studio jewelers and adds further strength to the MFA's world-class collection of contemporary jewelry. Cole's work is in the collection of the Museum of Arts and Design, MFA Houston, and Wisconsin's Racine Art Museum. She teaches nationally at craft schools like Penland in North Carolina and serves on the board of directors of the Society of North American Goldsmiths.
