Description
Delivery by Amy Bennett (American, born 1977) presents an scene of child birth in a hospital, an experience that is at once intimate yet sterile, commonplace yet extraordinary. This painting is part of a series of paintings, titled Nuclear Family, which show the experiences of everyday life of geographically and/or biologically connected nuclear suburban families. These include death and birth, sleep and childcare, and trips to the grocery store and hospital. What makes Delivery and Bennett’s practice overall unique is their intimacy and specificity as well as the very particular method that the artist uses to create them. Bennett uses small scale models of people, houses, and objects to create her meticulous small-scaled paintings.
