Description
This and other figures like it were made in the mid-20th century for the tourist market from much older textiles attributed to the Chimu or Chancay cultures, which date from the 13th-15th century.
ProvenanceBetween 1968 and 1970, acquired in Peru by Donald J. Bockler (b. 1943 – d. 2008), Belmont, MA [see note]; 2008, by inheritance to his widow, Marzina Bockler, Belmont, MA; 2021, gift of Marzina Bockler to the MFA. (Accession Date: September 30, 2021)
