For a discussion of Angiolo Falconetto see David Acton's entry on this artist in Sue Welsh Reed and Richard W. Wallace, Italian Etchers of the Renaissance & Baroque (Boston: Museum of Fine Arts, 1989), pp. 45-6. This print, which is executed in etching and engraving, is described by Bartsch as the original; the print that is described by Bartsch as a copy appears to be executed entirely in etching, and is used by The Illustrated Bartsch as the illustration for the artist's work in Vol. 44. It is possible that Bartsch confused the original and the copy.
