William Homes, Sr.1716/17–1785
In Jan. 1739, he ordered supplies from Benjamin Greene, Rufus Greene's brother. James Butler was tenant in house Homes purchased in 1746 and Daniel Henchman lived adjacent to property on Hawkins St. that Homes purchased in 1760. Homes, along with Samuel Minott (possible apprentice) witnessed deed of sale for real estate between Andrew Oliver and Daniel Boyer in 1753. Purchased land in Concord, MA from Jonathan Ball, father of John Ball in June 1759. Turned over responsibility for silver shop to son, William Homes, Jr. in 1763. Homes possibly made repairs to an Andrew Tyler porringer or retailed the porringer in his shop. A strainer marked by both Homes and Samuel Minott suggests a collaboration between these 2 silversmiths.
