"Born in Dartmouth, MA on Feb. 14, 1768, died in Roxbury on Feb. 27, 1854. Taber was an apprentice of Simon Willard who considered him his best apprentice. Taber's clocks closely follow those of Simon's. . . . He is noted for his plain case coffin wall clocks with timepiece movements and additional alarm mechnisms. . . . He made tall clocks, shelf clocks, coffin wall clocks, and patent timepieces.
