Richard Hunt (American, b. 1935)

Born in Chicago, Hunt studied at SAIC (1935-57) and exhibits widely, including a 1971 AIC/MOMA retrospective. Awarded accolades, including a 1957 Raymond Fellowship for European study, a 1962 Guggenheim, a 1965 Ford Fellowship, and 14 honorary degrees, Hunt was elected an Academician in 1999. He has also taught as an artist-in-residence from 1960-1997. His dynamic, abstract metal sculptures in steel, bronze, or aluminum respond to their setting, while his prints executed in bold color utilize expressive line.
