Joseph Lindon Smith

Patrick McMahon writes: He [Joseph Lindon Smith] is mostly associated with Dublin NH. He was an artist (designer and illustrator), an agent, collector, and an important cataloguer of the Egyptian digs that were sponsored by the MFA. From 1927 until his death he was "Honorary Curator of Egyptian Art" here--and this is why all of our holdings by him are in the Egyptian department and not the American one--he was creating documents for them. He was a major figure in the Dublin art colony and the same person who designed the rabbit logo (appearing on lots of their wares) for the Dedham Pottery. [2/20/2003]
