Admiral LORD JELLICOE, G.C.B., O.M., G.C.V.O., who was given Chief Command of the Grand Fleet on the outbreak of war, August, 1914, and was in supreme Command at the Battle of Jutland. He became First Sea Lord of the Admiralty in December, 1916, and retired in December, 1917.

Rear-Admiral SIR R.F. PHILLIMORE, C.B., M.V.O., who commanded H.M.S. "Inflexible," when Admiral Sturdee's Squadron defeated von Spee's force in the action off the Falkland Islands, 1914. He afterwards took a prominent part in the naval operations off Gallipoli, 1915.
