The daughter of fabric artist Elizabeth Talford Scott, and raised in Baltimore, MD, Scott studied at MICA (BFA, 1970) and the Instituto Allende, Mexico (MFA, 1971). Awarded an NEA fellowship, Tiffany Foundation grant, and named a 2006 Renwick Master of the Medium, Scott draws inspiration from diverse cultures, including Yoruban and Native American beadwork.
