Edward W. ForbesAmerican, 1873–1969
Gave 29 works of art from his collection to the MFA between 1905-1919-the only painting was Werner van den Valckert's Portrait of a Man. He had been made a trustee in 1903, and was the second director of the Fogg Museum at Harvard in 1909-served until 1944. His desire to give to both institutions is indicative of the close relationship they had at the time.
