Entry #748 in The Descendants of John Cogswell (call number 03 CS71 .C678 198). Distantly related to 18th century cabinetmaker John Cogswell (2nd cousin or so).

Worked as a journeyman in the cabinetshop of Vose and Coates in Boston until 1808/09 when he went to work for Thomas Seymour of Boston. Became partners for one year with Seymour. Later became a musical instruments maker. See Robert Mussey's book on John and Thomas Seymour.
