Lyle Ashton Harris
Lyle Ashton Harris (American, born 1965)
Splitting his time between New York City and Accra, Ghana, Lyle Ashton Harris uses portrait photography and collages made from advertisements, written notes, and other ephemera to explore issues of race, gender, and sexuality in western and Ghanian culture. An alumnus of California Institute of the Arts, Harris serves as Associate Professor of Art and Art Professions at NYU, and also as the Director for the Dei Centre for the Study of Contemporary African Art in Accra.
