Increase Sumner was born on November 27, 1746 and died in Roxbury on June 6, 1799. Harvard Class of 1767; elected Governor of Massachusetts three successive times from 1797 to 1799. Died in office.
Married Elizabeth Hyslop (1757-1810) in 1778 or 1779 and had two children: William (1780-1861) and Mehetable (1784-1826).
