Larry SalkAmerican, 1936–2004

Larry Salk was born in Chicago on April 27, 1936. He graduated from North Hollywood High School in June 1954, and then from UCLA in 1958 with a B.A. in Art and English. After graduation he served six months in the Army Reserve, and then went to work for Gerold Bouse, Inc. as Assistant Art Director. In 1960 Salk went to the Art Center School of Los Angeles. After graduation Larry took an interim job as a fashion illustrator at The Broadway. Salk married Judith Thomas on September 23, 1962, and they moved to NYC where he produced artwork for product packaging, paperback book covers, and record albums. In November 1964 the Salks returned to Los Angeles where Larry began working for The Elgin Davis Art Studio before becoming a freelance commercial artist. He has designed over 150 movie posters, drawn cover portraits for TV Guide, and portraits of celebrity entertainers who worked at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas.
